The Management Committee of South Green Hall would like to thank the Great Burstaed and South Green Village Council for their constant support.
At their last meeting on September 6th they voted to grant £2,000.00 to pay towards the installation of the new complete heating system in the Hall.
During the past long, and very cold winter it became apparent that the antiquated complex gas and storage heater system was very inadequate. All our regular hirers had to cope with a poor level of heat, and temporary industrial blow heaters were not sufficient to make the hall comfortable at all times.
The management committee decided that the replacement of the heating system was a high priority for this summer.
They researched the possible types of heating that were available and met with many suppliers. Then came the need to ask for grants and sponsors. Veolia Pitsea Marshes trust contributed £10,000 and Great Burstead and South Green Village Council granted £2,000.00. Many of our regular hirers supported the Chair of Committee who started off the money raising by completing The Barleylands Fun Walk.
The remaining balance was met from the Hall funds.
The new system is now installed. A compact combi-boiler fires a system of 17 new radiators, and even the storage rooms, toilets and stage will benefit from the heating. Dare I say that we are looking forward to the winter months so that we can test the system and enjoy it's benefits.
To everyone who supported us and helped with our research, A VERY BIG THANK YOU
